Health Education Reimagined

SugarFree Testing Service

SugarFree Testing is a student-run service. Spot us in pink and blue at a testing pop up.
We take blood pressure and A1c measurements. We help with blood sugar testing - machines with strips and continuous glucose monitors (CGM). We teach people about blood sugar and heart health using stickers, models, and games.

No insurance or prescription needed.

Brown Bag Reviews & Rx FAQs

Schedule a Brown Bag Review. We'll explore YOUR questions about YOUR treatment. Set up a one-on-one review or a Brown Bag Day for your organization.

Or send a question to our newsletter, RxFAQs. We answer community drug questions, bring a hopeful outlook, and offer natural alternatives as well.

Health Festivities

Health education for adults, young and old, who are still kids at heart. Provide health instruction to your group through one of our expressive play workshops. Build capacity for your research by hosting a health festivity. Paint and sips, poetry jams, make-up workshops, yoga classes, community mapping, game days, walk clubs and more.

YoungeLab makes...

health easy to talk about.

YoungeLab is a healthcare consulting service that combines clinical expertise with creativity to make health information evident. With hope, play, and a listening approach, we facilitate expression, so individuals and communities can better understand their health care needs.

Student Run Services

We test blood pressure and A1c. We provide blood glucose meter training.

No diagnosing. No meds. We give advice, only, when asked or absolutely needed.

Sometimes, we don't even need a name.

We provide quick, accessible testing —no insurance or prescriptions required.

We answer community questions about drugs and medications through our newsletter, and we answer one on one questions as part of a medication review, where we review all the medications, and address any medication-related concerns to the prescriber(s).

Health Festivities

Health teaching and learning for kids and kids at heart. Our workshops turn health education into a creative experience—using games, art, and hands-on activities to make learning engaging and fun.

First: we talk about a health condition - the science and the emotions. Then, we paint. We turn the science and emotion into illustrated health messages to encourage ourselves and others.

Wednesdays at 10:00am(ish). We walk 4 square blocks, so people can choose their own challenge: one square block or four. (From 1/2 mi to 2.25 mi.) During, we visit Coach Jordan from FitKonnect for tips and encouragement.

Our goals

Lead the community on an exploration of wellness and resilience through art, movement, and play.

Answer questions and find answers, so people can make informed health decisions.

Prevent or control diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol by making testing easy and affordable.

South Side Chicago communities
Uninsured individuals
People managing complex health needs and their support networks
Youth programs, schools, and faith-based organizations
